Latloppet Madona

The Latloppet Madona is a long-distance skiing race in classic technique being held annually, and for this year, the leading 32km race runs through two 16km long loops around the region.

Latloppet is the only popular classic skiing series in Latvia, and it was started in 2018 with the mission to revive classic skiing traditions, especially among recreational skiers.

Latloppet skiing series is carried out in the northeast part of Latvia – the uplands of Vidzeme, and the Challengers event takes place in the surroundings of Madona, which local people call “the winter capital of Latvia.”

The area is known to have good natural snow conditions compared with other Latvian regions. Most of the competition course winds through mild hilly meadows where you can enjoy fantastic views with good weather conditions.
