Although a fairly new competition, Totenrullen is regarded as one of the most beautiful roller ski races around and is highly sought after, both, by Ski Classics athletes and WC-athletes. This is also due to the fact that among the organizers of Totenrullen is famous rollerski manufacturer IDT, who develops skis in collaboration with people like Johannes Høsflot Klæbo and Frida Karlsson, and well-known Ski Classics participants Team Kaffebryggeriet.

The 60K Totenrullen competition counting as a Challengers event is part of a multi-day rollerski event called Toten Ski Festival.
